150 women. 300 kilos of waste. Every single day. For too long, female waste pickers in India have carried the burden- literally- of keeping our cities clean, at the cost of their health and dignity. On 6th May 2025, with immense pride and purpose, we launched the e-Dhakal Cart, India’s first electric cart campaign for women waste workers. A heartfelt collaboration with Pune Municipal Corporation, Kashtakari Panchayat, SWaCH, Tata Motors, and Social Alpha, under the University of Toronto India Foundation’s program for urban sustainability. This is more than innovation. This is justice on wheels.
